A taco-and-pupusa shack on East Colfax

Roberto Lopez came from Mexico and his wife from El Salvador, and the menu reads like both: Mexican street tacos off the grill next to Salvadoran pupusas pressed to order. It started as a tiny shack at Colfax and Yosemite, and people still walk up to the window and eat under the red umbrellas out front.

Marinated pork shaved off the trompo with pineapple, onion, and cilantro on a soft corn tortilla, with salsa, radish, and lime.

Pupusas with curtido

Thick masa pupusas pressed and griddled to order, served with tangy cabbage curtido and house salsa.
