Our story
A Mexican-and-Salvadoran taco shack that Denver took to.
Roberto Lopez came to Denver from Mexico, and his wife from El Salvador. Together they opened a small taco shack on East Colfax, at Yosemite, cooking the food they both grew up on.
That mix is still the whole idea. Mexican street tacos come off the grill, with pork shaved from the al pastor trompo. Salvadoran pupusas are pressed by hand and griddled to order, served with curtido and salsa.
It is a small place with a red-umbrella patio and a walk-up window, and it stays busy. Over the years it has been named to Westword's Best of Denver.
Run by Roberto Lopez and family
The taqueria is run by Roberto Lopez and his family, who keep the grill and the comal going every day.
